NSF Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU)
Point of Contact: Jayne-Marie Linguist, jayne-marie.linguist@tamucc.edu
Incubator Capacity: 6 participants
Incubator Timeline: May 23 – September 6, 2022
REU Proposal Submission Deadline: September 6, 2022 (by 5 pm submitter’s local time)
The NSF Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) program aims to support undergraduate participation in active research through programs or projects that are specifically designed for the REU program. REU sites will involve undergraduate students from other institutions in meaningful ways to encourage students to continue their participation in STEM and to prepare them for future careers.
This REU Incubator hosted by the Office of Research Development will support Principal Investigators (PIs) through the proposal development process. PIs will be given resources, document templates, and one-on-one support while they prepare their proposals for submission.
Due to the limited capacity of the Incubator, PIs are asked to register for the Incubator through a Qualtrics questionnaire to provide the Office of Research Development with more information about their potential project, previous experience with the REU program and/or undergraduate research, and their needs during the Incubator.
If you are interested in submitting an REU proposal but do not wish to participate in the REU Incubator, please email researchdevelopment@tamucc.edu. This is so the Office of Research Development can track how many REU proposals are submitted each year, whether they are submitted with the Incubator or not. The REU program does not have any restrictions or limitations on the number of proposals submitted per institution.
The following documents were created for anyone to use when preparing an REU proposal whether they are participating in the Incubator or not. The templates and resources are intended to be used as examples and guides. Some of the information in these documents may not necessarily be relevant to your individual project. Please consult with the Program Officer (PO) in your directorate/division and the REU solicitation for information specific to your project needs. General NSF proposal development templates that are not tailored to the REU program can be found in the ORCA Toolbox. More guides and templates will be uploaded as they are available.
Note: When you are using these templates and filling in your proposal information, please remove any unnecessary headers, information, images, etc. and make sure that your documents comply with NSF formatting requirements outlined in the NSF Proposal & Award Policies & Procedures Guide (PAPPG).
If you have any questions regarding the REU Incubator or the REU proposal templates, please contact Jayne-Marie Linguist (jayne-marie.linguist@tamucc.edu) or researchdevelopment@tamucc.edu.
