Safety
Animals on Campus
Pets and other animals are restricted in Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi (TAMU-CC) facilities, grounds, and parking areas. This restriction supports the university's efforts to provide a safe work, learning, and research environment. This procedure helps minimize the health risks and concerns of members of the campus community and aids the maintenance, appearance, and cleanliness of campus facilities.
Automated External Defibrillators (AED)
Texas requires AED programs to keep up with maintenance, AED placement reporting, and EMS activation requirements. The Good Samaritan law protects all AED users, and many activities are covered. Immunity is not determined from the compliance of specified administrative and operational requirements. Texas mandates that AEDs be placed in certain schools, in dentist offices, nursing homes/facilities, extended care facilities, and at artificial swimming lagoons/swimming pools.
Carts
Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi is committed to protecting the safety of pedestrians and ensuring the safe operation of motorized carts and cart-type modes of transportation on campus.

Events
Is your organization or department planning to host an event on the TAMUCC campus? Depending on its characteristics, your event may be subject to certain permitting and safety requirements overseen by Environmental, Health, & Safety (EHS). Before any event may move forward, it is essential that all required documents are completed to ensure the continued safety of the TAMUCC campus. An event may not be able to move forward as planned if all required permits and safety requirements are not completed.
All proposed outdoor events on the TAMUCC campus, even those that do NOT require space reservations under UC Reservations must submit the Event Safety Review Form for event approval at least 14 days prior to the start of the event.
This allows EHS to ensure that all permitting, and safety requirements are completed prior to your event start date.
Fieldwork Safety
Fieldwork is an important part of teaching and research at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi. These guidelines should also assist colleges and departments in ensuring they have procedures in place for the Health and Safety of personnel involved in fieldwork. They are intended to help prepare for health and safety problems you might encounter when conducting fieldwork. Faculty, staff, and students should be properly trained, equipped, and prepared to assess and minimize risk and provide aid to themselves and their colleagues in case of an emergency.
