Timeline

Below is a timeline outlining the major milestones for the first five years of the I-Know program. The Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP) is being rolled out in various stages, allowing time for concepts to be scaffolded and solidified. Each year contains professional development and assessment activities to varying degrees. This timeline of the QEP is up-to-date and has been adjusted from the original timeline due to the Covid-19 Pandemic.

Planning Year

The Fall 2019 semester included administering all four modules of the TATIL assessment tool to freshmen and seniors to gather baseline data within and between those groups. The QEP committee developed the I-Know rubric and finalized program plans.

Year 1: Fall 2020- Summer 2021

Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, the original timeline was delayed. In 2020-2021, the QEP employees were hired, and department established. The I-Know Director worked to develop professional development activities for the upcoming fall semester.

Year 2: Fall 2021- Summer 2022

Year 2 was a planning year for the First Level of SLOs: Find. During the Fall 2021 semester, professional development activities began for First-Year Seminar faculty. The I-Know Team applied for and received IRB approval to offer the TATIL Module 2 to students in UNIV 1102 in Spring of 2022. Results from this offering of the TATIL will be a benchmark for future offerings of Module 2. The I-Know team adapted the rubric to meet the needs of First-Year Seminar Faculty, and created assessment activities for faculty to adapt and add to their course. In May and August of 2022 the I-Know team followed up with First-Year Seminar faculty to help integrate SLO 1a and 1b into their courses. First-Year Seminar faculty will offer an assignment that meets these learning objectives to their students in the fall semester. In Spring 2022, the I-Know team also met with departments across campus to identify I-Know courses for SLO 2.

Year 3: Fall 2022-Summer 2023

Year 3 was the first full integration of SLO 1: Find. In the fall of 2022, instructors of UNIV 1101 submitted their plan for incorporating Find into their course, culminating in a final assessment of SLO 1a and 1b. A random selection of these student artifacts were submitted to the I-Know team for scoring. Students in UNIV 1101 also were offered the opportunity to take module 2 of the TATIL at the beginning of fall 2022 and again in UNIV 1102 in spring 2023. The results of these assessments will be used to see if their scores improve over the semester. We began the collection and scoring of student artifacts in the spring of 2023.

Year 3 was also our planning year for our SLO2: Evaluate. In fall 2022, the I-Know team continued meeting with different TAMU-CC department chairs and instructors to identify Level 2 courses. In December of 2022, January, and February 2023, instructors of the selected I-Know Level 2 courses participated in a professional development workshop, and then submitted their final assessment plan for SLO 2a and 2b in their discipline specific course to the I-Know Team. Those assessments will be integrated into their course beginning in Fall 2023.

Year 4: Fall 2023- Summer 2024

Year 4 included a full integration of SLOs 1 and 2. Integration of Level 1 SLOs in fall offerings of UNIV 1101 continued, including collecting student artifacts and TATIL module 2.

The Level 2 instructors who participated in the professional development workshop integrated the level 2 SLOs into their course, culminating in a final assignment or artifact. A random selection of these student artifacts were submitted to the I-Know team for scoring. Students in these courses were also offered the opportunity to take Module 1 of the TATIL. Scoring of student artifacts from UNIV 1101 and I-Know Level 2 courses will begin in spring of 2024.

Year 4 was also our planning year for SLO 3: Create and Communicate. In spring of 2024, the I-Know team continued to meet with different TAMU-CC department chairs and instructors to identify Level 3 courses for each TAMU-CC major. Instructors of capstone courses in each major aligned their final assessment in the course to SLO 3a and 3b. Those assessments will be integrated into their course in Fall 2024.

Year 5: Fall 2024-Summer 2025

Year five will include the integration of all three levels of SLOs into the TAMU-CC curriculum.

Integration of level 1 SLOs in fall offerings of UNIV 1101 will continue, including collecting student artifacts and TATIL module 2.

Integration of Level 2 SLOs will continue in the fall and spring of selected I-Know courses, including collecting student artifacts and TATIL module 1.

The Level 3 instructors who participated in the professional development workshop will fully integrate the level 3 SLOs into their course, culminating in a final assignment or artifact. A random selection of these student artifacts will be submitted to the I-Know team for scoring. Students in these courses will also be offered the opportunity to take Modules 3 and 4 of the TATIL. Scoring of student artifacts from UNIV 1101 and I-Know Level 2 courses, and major capstone courses will begin in spring of 2025.

In Spring of 2025, the I-Know team will host an I-Know Symposium. The Symposium will bring together interested faculty from across campus to learn from I-Know faculty regarding best practices and experiences related to digital information literacy concepts and strategies. The symposium is a faculty led event for faculty with breakout sessions and hands on development workshops.
