Using AI for Research at TAMU-CC
AI is reshaping the research process across disciplines, from discovery and design to analysis and dissemination. This page highlights how faculty and researchers can integrate AI into their scholarly work. Learn how AI tools can enhance productivity, enable new methods, and open up collaborative possibilities while raising critical ethical considerations.
Responsible Use of AI in Research
Researchers must protect sensitive data used in AI-powered research and comply with ethical rules regarding data privacy. Researchers are also encouraged to study the funding agencies’ requirements regarding the use of generative AI in developing proposals and strive to meet those requirements, as some might prohibit this practice, or require applicants to acknowledge the use of generative AI in that process. NIH has provided guidance on the use of AI to ensure the originality of the ideas proposed and has limited the number of applications PIs can submit to NIH per calendar year. NSF has barred proposal reviewers from uploading content from proposals under review to generative AI applications.
