NSF Templates and Guides

Below are templates and guides to assist you with writing your National Science Foundation (NSF) proposal. These documents are meant to serve as guides and examples where you can fill in your information that is specific to the program you are submitting to and your project’s needs. Please refer to your program’s solicitation and Program Officer for any specific requirements. Requirements that are outlined in a solicitation will override requirements in the most current NSF Proposal and Award Policies and Procedures Guide (PAPPG).

This template includes a breakdown of the Data Management Plan (DMP) requirements with the National Science Foundation, a guide to writing your DMP, and a list of available repositories at TAMU-CC.

Please refer to your program’s solicitation and Program Officer for specific DMP requirements. Each NSF directorate may also have specific requirements that address unique data management issues.

NSF Data Management Plan Template

This template includes a guide and example for writing your NSF Postdoctoral Researcher Mentoring Plan (or “Mentoring Plan”). This example should be catered to your specific proposal’s needs and the program solicitation.

Please refer to your program’s solicitation and Program Officer for specific Mentoring Plan requirements.

NSF Postdoctoral Researcher Mentoring Plan Template

This template includes a guide and example for writing your NSF Project Summary. This example should be catered to your specific proposal’s needs and the program solicitation.

Please refer to your program’s solicitation and Program Officer for specific Project Summary requirements. Project Summary requirements in program solicitation override requirements outlined in the most current NSF Proposal and Award Policies and Procedures Guide (PAPPG).

NSF Project Summary Template

This document contains a template of the NSF Letter of Collaboration. The body text of this template is verified in the most current NSF Proposal and Award Policies and Procedures Guide (PAPPG) and is required to be used in any Letter of Collaboration for NSF proposals. Letters of Collaboration must not deviate from the provided text unless specified in the program solicitation.

Please confirm with the program solicitation for your project and your Program Office that Letters of Collaboration are permitted for your proposal as well as the limit on how many letters may be submitted. NSF Letter of Collaboration Template

This tool includes a list of questions regarding NSF’s Faculty Early Career Development Program (CAREER) to help PIs assess their readiness to submit an NSF CAREER proposal. The assessment tool covers areas including but not limited to Basic Eligibility, Commitment to Research and Education, Resources and Institutional Support, and more. If you have any questions about the NSF CAREER program, this assessment tool, or you would like to discuss submitting an NSF CAREER proposal, please contact us at researchdevelopment@tamucc.edu.

This assessment tool is not required by the Office of Research Development or the National Science Foundation to submit an NSF CAREER proposal.
