About EEO Categories
As Staff Council members we represent our peers—staff members whose jobs and duties are similar to our own. Because of this, we use the following EEO categories to ensure equitable representation across all job types:
Occupations which require management of the institution or a customarily recognized department or subdivision thereof, and perform work directly related to management policies or general business operations of the institution, department or subdivision.
Included in this category are employees holding titles such as: executives; managers, department heads, directors, etc.
Occupations with the primary purpose of performing academic support, student service, and institutional support.
Included in this category are all employees holding titles such as: specialists, agents, analysts, counselors, scientists, engineers, network and computer systems administrators, etc.
Occupations which are typically associated with clerical activities or are specifically of a secretarial nature.
Includes personnel who are responsible for internal and external communications, recording and retrieval of information, and other paperwork required in an office.
Occupations that require specialized knowledge or skills which may be acquired through experience, apprenticeship, on-the-job-training, or academic work in occupationally specific programs, or occupations that contribute to the comfort, convenience, and hygiene of personnel and the student body or that contribute to the upkeep of the institutional property.
Includes technicians, operators, specialists, mechanics, electricians, carpenters. etc.
Your EEO category can be found listed under the Job Classifications section of your Workday Job Profile.
To get there, view your employee profile in Workday, and under the Job Details column follow the Job Profile hyperlink. Your EEO category will be listed in the Job Classifications section near the bottom.

Having now served a 2 year term on Staff Council, I have come to fully understand and appreciate the impact Staff Council has on the important relationship between staff and University leaders. As the director of the Health Center, my participation on this council has allowed for the opportunity to impact the health of our campus community by having a voice and listening to those whose voices would not have otherwise be heard. The connections I have made on this council have allowed me the opportunity to collaborate across campus with different departments and break down silos which I believe is the foundation for a successful university.
Most TAMU-CC staff know the Staff Council as the Team that plans and organizes the Break in the Day Islander Lights Employee Excellence Award Dorothy Yeater Staff Scholarship However, this council is more than just event planners. This group represents and advocates for TAMU-CC staff on a wide variety of issues. As the TAMU-CC campus grows and changes physically and in staff population, the Staff Council must represent the diverse staff wholly. It is vital to improve morale and continuously advocate for the staff's rights. I firmly believe in the mission of TAMU-CC, and the staff plays a significant part in fulfilling that mission. I would like to be involved with TAMU-CC Staff Council to ensure the staff's voice is heard and maximized in decisio

Greetings Islander Staff! I am excited at the opportunity to represent you once again on Staff Council! I currently serve as the Chair for the Dorothy Yeater Scholarship Committee. During this time, our committee has successfully raised money which allowed us to award eight book scholarships to staff enrolled in the Employee Betterment Program. In addition, we are looking to participate in larger revenue fundraiser that will yield a higher return to increase the number of scholarships awarded. Our goal is to be able to fund at least 15-20 book scholarships per semester from this fundraiser. I also currently serve as a Staff Council representative on the Student Success Council. This appointment was a steppingstone to becoming the Chair for Health and & Wellness Initiatives. In addition to this, I currently serve on the Benefit and Employee Development Committee. This has truly been a rewarding experience to serve and represent my constituents. It is my desire to serve another term voicing and advocating your concerns and ideas. My goal is to address areas of improvement for staff and continue to build and increase opportunities in all areas for staff members. Sincerely, Angela Walker

I think it would be really fun to be a part of Staff Council! I love networking and working behind the scenes on planning events. I also want to feel like I can make an impact and be apart of the changes that are taking place here on campus. I am organized, dedicated, and think this would be a great opportunity!

I have been serving on Staff Council this semester as a replacement member. In this time, I have been able to participate in conversations that directly relate to our staff. I hope that I have been able to offer thoughtful insights and experience to these conversations. I look forward to continuing to participate in these opportunities to bring a voice to those in my EEO category.
It would be an honor to serve as a liaison between fellow staff and University leadership. I feel that I can bring a unique perspective with strong communication skills. My father served as Union President for the Corpus Christi Army Depot, so being a voice for the people has been instilled from a very young age. I have witnessed first hand the power of the people and hope that my service can bring positive changes to the University.

As a fellow Islander Alumna and employee of TAMUCC Lone Star UAS Center of Excellence & Innovation, it would be an honor to serve as a representative on the Staff Council 2022/2023 term. I have a deep connection with the university, which began in 2016 as an undergraduate and student worker within the Veteran’s Affairs office and continues to this day as an TAMUCC MBA graduate and Administrative Coordinator for LSUASC. I believe it is vital that the employees of this well-established university have a voice on matters that are ever-changing in today’s climate, and I truly feel that I am suited to help address their needs and concerns. Most importantly, I want to help establish a sense of community within TAMUCC and help show the comradery among the Islander family.
It would be a great honor to serve as a Staff Council representative here at the Island University. I have been fortunate to work here for a little over 1.5 years now and am thankful for the countless memories made and lessons learned. This campus community is welcoming, caring, supportive, and much more. I have enjoyed getting involved in any way that I can; from volunteering wherever I can on/off campus, attending athletic and social events, playing in the staff/student basketball game, and all other memories I have enjoyed making. In my role, I work directly with students and plan/execute events while getting to know fellow staff members in/out of the SEAS division. I would love the opportunity to serve this institution that has already given me so much and be the voice for all staff members I meet.

I am incredibly happy to accept my nomination for staff council. I am excited about the potential to serve as the voice for my fellow staff members and for the opportunity to become more involved in committees on campus. In previous positions, I have been on several committees where I have acted as the liaison for management and employees. I look forward to the chance to be able to advocate for my fellow staff members as well as keeping them informed about necessary information. I hope you will consider me for this position on Staff Council! Thank you!

Hi, my name is Sara Chapa and I am currently a Business Specialist II with the Center for Coastal Studies. I’ve been with the University for over 15 years where I’ve been able to work with staff, students, faculty and administration. I would appreciate the opportunity of serving on Staff Council to be able to put my varied experience to good use in supporting and representing staff make our beautiful campus a much better place to work! Thanks!
Afternoon! I feel like my experience in working remote over the last three years will offer insight and a unique perspective to the University. The trend for remote staff is growing and it would be an honor to represent them.
My name is Roxanne Singsaas, I work at Mary and Jeff Bell Library as a Library Information Specialist, and I have been a staff member of the TAMU-CC system for the past 6 years. While earning my MS in Professional School Counseling, I began my TAMU-CC Staff journey as a Graduate Assistant for Mary and Jeff Bell Library. Upon graduation, I obtained a full-time position at Bell Library and continued to work directly with the student workers, students, faculty, and members of the community. I have thoroughly enjoyed being able to provide support for students, faculty, and staff alike, while furthering my knowledge of TAMU-CC. I look forward to joining staff council to learn more about the University’s inner workings, to continue to meet staff members from across the University, and to learn more about the issues that concern staff. As a member of Staff Council, I would work to make your voice heard and use my experience in collaboration and listening to report back effectively. Thank you for the opportunity to represent you, and I look forward to working together.
