Graduate Assistantships
Communication, MA Program
The Department of Communication and Media is excited to offer a competitive Graduate Teaching Assistant program to qualified, admitted graduate students. Graduate Teaching Assistantships provide an opportunity for graduate students to experience teaching and managing their own classrooms under the supervision of the basic course director. TAs participate in required training covering pedagogical techniques, learning technologies, classroom management strategies, and addressing the needs of diverse student populations.
Individuals who have completed our Graduate Teaching Assistantship program have gone on to work as instructors on the TAMU-CC campus and at other regional institutions and have also been selected as Graduate Teaching Assistants in Doctoral programs across the country. In addition to providing excellent teaching experience, working as a Graduate Teaching Assistant can also provide opportunities for developing a wide range of professional skills applicable to a variety of potential careers.
TAs engage students in course content using mini-lecture and quiz strategies, as well as in-class activities. Additionally, TAs facilitate writing and speaking assignments, grade student work, and maintain all student records for the assigned sections.
