A stop-work order (SWO) is a notice from the federal government that requires you to either pause or terminate work on a grant.

It is important for you to notify your grant administrator with OSRA immediately. Please forward any information you have received to research.office@tamucc.edu. If the sponsor provided you with a stop-work order, it is imperative for you to follow the guidance from the sponsor regarding work that needs to be ended.

Yes. PIs should continue to submit proposals to active federal solicitations. If you are concerned that the proposal may not comply with the latest posted guidance, please reach out to your program officer, the Office of Research Development (researchdevelopment@tamucc.edu), or your grant administrator with Sponsored Research Services for assistance. Additionally, it is possible that the Notification of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) may change requirements without notification. It is advisable to contact your program officer for guidance.

If you are in the process of hiring personnel, please discuss it with your dean or director and/or contact research.office@tamucc.edu for assistance.  

If you receive an SWO, you cannot proceed with hiring personnel on the respective funded project at this time. Additionally, you must cease incurring additional expenses.

If you have staff or students hired on your federally funded project and the activity may be impacted by recent executive orders, review your sponsor's guidance to ensure compliance. Consult with OSRA at research.office@tamucc.edu for clarification and assistance. Also, we encourage you to reach out to your program officer for further guidance on allowable activities and potential adjustments. 

If your planned activities or travel use funds from a potentially impacted federal award, consult with OSRA at research.office@tamucc.edu for guidance. We also recommend discussing the situation with your program officer to confirm whether the expense remains allowable.
