CBI installs and maintain a network of water level stations which provide real-time measurements of oceanic and meteorological conditions along the entire length of the Texas coast. These measurements provide the foundational data by which the junction between ocean and land is computated, marine navigation is supported, and emergency storm preparedness models are developed. All monitoring stations are maintained to standards set by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). See tidesandcurrents.noaa.gov.

CBI installs and maintains a network of sensors that are used for navigational aid to maritime transport. NOAA PORTS® is a decision support tool that improves the safety and efficiency of maritime commerce and coastal resource management through the integration of real-time environmental observations, forecasts and other geospatial information. PORTS® measures and disseminates observations and predictions of water levels, currents, salinity, and meteorological parameters (e.g., winds, atmospheric pressure, air and water temperatures) that mariners need to navigate safely.
