Procurement

Nearly every item, material, or software (collectively, “products”) in the U.S. is subject to U.S. export controls. Every product has an export control classification. The classification determines the level and type of export restrictions.

The export control classification is required to be confirmed from the vendor and/or distributor when procuring capital equipment and consumables for laboratory-based research. This export control classification (allowable access) and use of such items by foreign nationals depends on which of these control jurisdictions would apply.
