Internship Background Check Process

Background checks are required for students who are working with minors during their internships. If the internship site does not conduct the background check, then students are required to complete one, facilitated by the Career & Professional Development Center. Students must complete the following steps for their background check to be processed.

ALL forms must be submitted to the Career & Professional Development Center, located in the University Center (UC) 304. If students are not on campus, they may email their documents to Jessica.Blakeslee@tamucc.edu.

  • Complete the authorization forms
    • Criminal Background Check Authorization Form
    • FERPA Release Form – ONLY individuals listed on the release form will be notified once the Career Center receives the results. Faculty/Internship Coordinators should remind students to list them on the form (if necessary) or the faculty member/Internship Coordinator will not receive an update.
  • Submit a copy of valid Driver’s License
  • Students are required to pay for their background check via marketplace and email their payment confirmation/receipt to Jessica.Blakeslee@tamucc.edu.
    • $10.00 – ONLY resided in Texas since age of 18
    • $25.00 – Lived OUTSIDE of Texas since age of 18 (multi-state)
    • *Available payment methods are VISA or MASTERCARD ONLY
    • *Everyone listed on the Release Form will be notified of the results when processing is complete.
