Judging the Regional Fair
We need STEM-focused university students, professionals, teachers and parents to serve as judges for the regional science fair. Parents and teachers can serve as judges outside of the division in which their children/students are competing.
Each participating school and/or district should assist in identifying and recruiting qualified judges.

What are a judge's responsibilities?
- Applicants to judge grades 6-12 should register on or before January 30, 2023.
- Applicants to judge grades K-5 should register on or before March 30, 2023.
- Be available the entire judging time for the division assigned.
- Attend a 1-hour judges’ training at the beginning of the judging session.
- Check emails and websites often for updates on you assignment.
- Wear business casual attire when interacting with student participants.
- Interview students about their projects.
- Collaborate with other judges, score projects, and assign awards.
Judge benefits & qualifications
- Grade K-5 judges must have started college.
- Grade 6-12 judges must have either completed college or have significant science knowledge, like advanced coursework and field work in science.
- Preferred qualifications are majors/careers in education or STEM fields
- All judges will receive a t-shirt, a meal, and certificate of 3 continuing education credits.
