Important Update to 2024-2025 FAFSA
The new 2024-25 FAFSA form will be available in December 2023, not October 1st. This launch date change only applies to the 24-25 FAFSA. The FAFSA processes and systems are being updated to simplify the application for students and families. Please opt-in for SMS message alerts on studentaid.gov and take steps now to help you prepare to submit your form. You can do this by updating your communication preferences in your account settings.
Filling Out The FAFSA
To apply for federal financial aid, you must complete and submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, also known the FAFSA. You can complete the FAFSA electronically by using FAFSA on the Web.

Filling Out The TASFA
Legislation enacted in Senate Bill 1528 (SB1528) and House Bill 1403 (HB1403) grants resident status for tuition purposes to certain non-resident students. SB1528/HB1403 students are not eligible for federal funds and therefore cannot complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
An alternate form, the Texas Application for State Financial Aid (TASFA), is available at www.collegeforalltexans.com for SB1528/HB1403 students to apply for need-based state funds.
