Breaks and transitions
Bathroom and stretch breaks are scheduled, supervised, and brief; they are transitions, not unstructured free time. Staff maintain head counts at every transition and use the roster to confirm attendance. Participants should carry a water bottle and follow staff instructions during transitions.
Lunch and heat precautions
Lunch is provided daily by university dining and included in the camp fee.
Lunch occurs during peak heat; the walk is kept short and shaded. Staff will choose the shadiest route, require hydration immediately before and after the walk, limit outdoor exposure, enforce a no‑running policy, and monitor for heat‑illness signs. Any participant showing symptoms will be moved to air‑conditioned space and, if needed, emergency services will be contacted.
Check‑in and safety notes
Day‑1 check‑in is 9:30–9:45 with orientation 9:45–10:00; other days check‑in is 9:45–9:55. Bring photo ID for pick‑up verification. One staff member certified in Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED will be on site; a first‑aid kit, emergency contacts, and posted procedures will be available. Staff follow allergy, medication, and emergency escalation protocols.
