Dr. Florencio Eloy Hernández Announced as Dean of the College of Science

Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi announces Dr. Florencio Eloy Hernández as the inaugural dean of the College of Science. Dr. Hernández has spent 24 years at University of Central Florida (UCF), including more than 3 years as an Associate Dean. He has taught chemistry at UCF since 2001 and served as a Provost Faculty Fellow and Graduate Coordinator. 

“I am excited to join a new college that will impact the region through research and innovation, teaching and learning, and community engagement. I will have a unique opportunity to work with an exceptional group of faculty, staff, and students to advance the mission and impact of TAMU-CC through the natural synergy produced by the power of diversity and inclusion,” said Dr. Hernández. 

Dr. Hernández completed a DSc in Physical Chemistry at the Universidad Central de Venezuela in collaboration with L’Université Franche-Comté, a Master of Business Administration at University of Central Florida, and an undergraduate degree at Universidad Central de Venezuela.

Dr. Clarenda M. Phillips, Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, remarked, “I am thrilled to welcome Dr. Hernández to the Island University. His leadership and research experience, combined with his commitment to community impact, mentoring, and excellence in teaching, will strongly support students and faculty in the College of Science and throughout the University.”
