Conjunto by the Bay – A Tejas Tradition
LOS TEXMANIACS
📅 Wednesday, October 29, 2025 | 7:30 p.m.
Los Texmaniacs are the living embodiment of conjunto music’s rich past and vibrant future. Led by Max Baca, a legend on the bajo sexto, the group anchors their signature sound with the rhythmic drive of the bajo and the accordion — the beating heart of conjunto. Together, these instruments not only honor tradition but also propel the band’s sound into new, exciting territory.
Credited with making traditional folk, roots, and conjunto music “hip” again, Los Texmaniacs attract young audiences while staying true to their heritage. Their dynamic performances infuse conjunto with blues and R&B riffs, creating a flavorful fusion that’s both deeply rooted and refreshingly modern.
As torchbearers of Texas roots music on the global stage, they’ve collaborated with icons such as Flaco Jimenez, Augie Meyers, Peter Rowan, and even The Rolling Stones. Their accolades include a GRAMMY Award in 2010 for Borders y Bailes (Smithsonian Folkways) and a 2019 nomination for Cruzando Borders, featuring Lyle Lovett and Rick Trevino. With Max Baca’s extensive GRAMMY-winning contributions spanning eleven projects, Los Texmaniacs bring unmatched artistry and authenticity to every performance.
On Wednesday, October 29, 2025, Los Texmaniacs will take the stage at the Texas A&M University–Corpus Christi Performing Arts Center, delivering an evening that entertains, educates, and celebrates the spirit of Tejas — right here, Where Land Meets Sea.
