Before the first day

  • Assist employee as needed with completing onboarding tasks in Workday.
  • Discuss with the employee when to expect the first paycheck. 
  • Give employee information on where to park for the first day.
  • Request access to required systems needed by the employee (i.e. Banner, phone number)
  • Request building access and keys.
  • Prepare office space and stock with supplies.
  • Ensure desktop is ready for new user.

Note: You will likely coordinate the above activities with the Hiring Manager.  

The first day

  • Personally welcome the new employee to the department.
  • Assist employee as needed with completing all tasks in Workday.
  • Ensure employee knows his/her UIN.
  • Ensure employee has obtained a university email.
  • Confirm SandDollar obtained.
  • Provide copier access code.
  • Provide long distance pin.

The first week

  • Schedule employee for a division or department-specific orientation, if applicable.
  • Process relocation reimbursement, as applicable.
  • Provide Procurement and Travel credit card applications
