The Move-In Guide will be emailed to your Islander email after you receive your room assignment and we get closer to the Move-In date.

Move-In for returning students is Wednesday, Aug. 19 for returning students and Friday, Aug. 21 for first-time college students. Anchor Camp Move-In dates can be found on this website.

Roommate details are available in your Resident Portal once both you and your roommate(s) have signed your housing contracts. 

To view your roommate(s), please follow the steps below: 

1. Log in to your Resident Portal. 
2. Click on My Details, located next to the three lines at the top left corner of the screen. 
3. From the drop-down menu that says Please select next step, choose View Roommates. 
4. On the View Roommates page, you’ll find your roommate’s name and Islander email address listed at the bottom. 

If the information isn’t visible yet, it may be because you or one of your assigned roommate(s) have not yet signed the housing contract. 

The time slot you received is the time slot we ask that you arrive to check in. Once you've checked in, your unloading time will begin. Please arrive on time to help keep the process running smoothly.

You can view your specific assignment in the housing portal under My Details. Click Choose Information, and then select Assignment Viewer. Next, in the drop-down menu select Current or Future.

All check in for both first-time and returning students will be conducted at the Performing Arts Center. All residents can drive their vehicle through our mobile check-in, you never have to leave your car!

Please have your A Number and SandDollar$ ID ready when you arrive at the check-in tent. We’ll verify both to complete your check-in quickly. If you don’t have your physical SandDollar$ ID, you can use the GET Mobile app as your digital ID and even add it to your Apple Wallet. We still recommend getting your physical SandDollar$ ID as soon as possible. Having these items ready will help make the move-in process faster and smoother.

No, beds cannot be lofted.

Yes, your Resident Advisor (RA) will communicate instructions with you regarding your mandatory hall/building/floor meeting that will be conducted during your first week on campus.

Each resident is allowed to bring one car. You will receive a hangtag for your vehicle, and you can park in our designated unloading zone during move-in. If you're bringing two vehicleson Move-In day, one should be used to unload in the unloading zone first while the other is parked in the guest lot. Once the first vehicle has finished unloading and is moved to guest parking, you may bring the second vehicle to the unloading zone as long as it has the required hang tag. This helps keep the unloading area clear and ensures a smooth process for everyone.

To alleviate traffic congestion, we ask that you bring only one vehicle. If you have a second vehicle with guests, it must be parked in the designated guest parking zones at either property. Parking in the unloading zones will be limited and you will need to move your car to one of the designated parking areas after your time is up.

Miramar:

For Miramar, you will receive a hangtag when you check in, which allows you to park in the unloading zone for your assigned building. You have 30 minutes to unload before you need to move your vehicle to the Hammerhead parking lot. Guest Parking will be at the Hammerhead and Turtle Cove lots.

Momentum Village:

For Momentum Village, you will receive a hangtag when you check in, which allows you to park in the unloading zone for your assigned building. Guest parking is located at the Rec Field Parking Lot.

When you arrive on campus, look for the Islander Housing Move-In signs and flags. They will guide you to the check-in area and to your assigned building. You can also reference the maps below.

All units are furnished with a bed, dresser, desk and desk chair, closet, blinds, and an air conditioner. All apartment style units have a fully furnished living area and full sized kitchen.

Please note that residence halls do not come with a mini fridge, microwave, or closet doors.

Yes, if there is an available room. Simply contact us to ask about current availability.

All of Momentum Village have full-sized beds.

All Traditional Residence Halls will have Twin XL mattresses.

We are currently completing inventory on Miramar apartments. Please wait to receive your unit assignment to purchase bedding or a mattress. While the standard bed size for Miramar apartments is a Twin, there may be slight variations. This page will be updated to reflect more current information when our inventory is complete. Yes, living on-campus at Miramar for two semesters (fall/spring) is required for first-year students. Please visit the Residency Requirement page for more information.

Momentum Village is primarily designated for returning students.

Absolutely! PSA students fall under the same residency requirement as other First-Year Islanders.

Yes! Transfer and graduate students are welcome to submit an application to live on campus.

Married students may live together in a 2-bedroom unit as long as each is an enrolled student. Each person will have their own bedroom and housing contract. Minor dependent children of students may not reside on-campus.

The university does not manage or support any off-campus apartments. Several local apartment companies target college students, but they are not affiliated in any way with TAMU-CC. Our two exclusive Islander Housing properties are Miramar on the Island Campus and Momentum Village on the Momentum Campus.

Yes, summer housing is available. Students wishing to live at Miramar and Momentum Village during the summer will need to renew and sign a summer housing contract. Please contact our office at 361.825.4663 or housing@tamucc.edu for more information about summer housing options.

All students residing at Miramar are required to have a meal plan each semester of the academic year. The meal plan is optional for all Momentum Village residents. You can find various and affordable meal plan options here.

A maintenance request must be submitted any time a resident notices that something is broken or not working properly. The request can be submitted 24/7 by visiting the Housing Portal. For more detailed instructions, visit the current resident resources webpage.

Miramar
Residents who bring a car must purchase a University Resident parking permit. The Resident Permit allows the student to park in designated Resident-only parking lots or in combined Resident/General parking lots. The permit does not give access to General Parking lots.

Momentum Village
Students residing at Momentum Village who bring a vehicle are required to purchase a Momentum Village parking permit. This permit allows parking only at Momentum Village and does not grant access to main campus parking areas. Students who purchase a General or Garage permit for main campus parking are not required to purchase a Momentum Village permit.

Pets are not allowed in Islander Housing.

Islander Housing offers an Academic Year term (10 months) which begins in August and ends in May, and a 12-month contract that begins in May and ends the following May. If a resident would like to sign a summer housing contract, they can do so via their housing portal.

Yes! To receive your contract, you must attend an Islander Launch.

No, the guarantor’s signature is not required on the housing contract if the student is 18 years of age or older. Only the resident is required to sign their housing contract.

An individual housing contract provides each resident with their own separate housing contract and responsibility for only their living space, rental installments, and applicable utility and parking charges. By signing an individual housing contract, you are only taking responsibility for your rental installments and housing contract terms and will not be held liable for any delinquent amounts owed by your roommate(s).

Your Housing fees will be billed to your student account and are are due at the same time as your tuition and fees.

Visit the Business Office website to view acceptable methods of payment. 

Housing Contract installment amount will be reflected on your tuition and fee statement and payment is due in accordance with the university’s deadline for payment of tuition and fees.

Renters insurance is not required but highly recommended. Coverage for your personal belongings is not included as part of your Housing Contract. Renters insurance can provide coverage for loss or damage to your personal belongings (including fire, theft, or natural causes) and is typically available for a small monthly fee through your preferred insurance provider.

If you are no longer attending or have withdrawn from TAMU-CC, you can terminate your housing contract by submitting a Termination Request. This form initiates the process of ending your housing agreement in accordance with the contract’s terms. If you wish to request a waiver of the cancellation fee, submit a Cancellation Waiver form. Both forms require documentation (such as proof of withdrawal, unenrollment, or graduation) and are subject to review and approval. Please note that all students and/or their guarantors are responsible for any outstanding fees or charges, regardless of whether the contract is terminated or a waiver is granted.

Texas Senate Bill 1107 (now TEC 51.9192) requires all students entering an institution of higher education (public and private) to either receive a vaccination against bacterial meningitis or meet certain criteria for declining such a vaccination before the first day of the semester.

Please visit the TAMU-CC Bacterial Meningitis webpage to submit proof of vaccination and for important information about vaccination requirements.

Students who want to room with a specific person are responsible for coordinating together and selecting bed spaces in the same unit. Students who want to live with a specific individual should plan to apply at the same time to ensure they choose the same space.  

To connect with other Islanders and select a roommate you have the opportunity to create or join groups through the application. 

Creating a Group

1. Set Up Your Group

   • Group Name: Choose a name for your group.
   • Group Size: Select the desired size for your group. This will be based on options predefined by your organization.
   • Visibility: Decide if you want others to be able to find your group in search results.

2. Complete the Setup
   Once your group is created, you can:

   • Use the Menu to confirm your group was successfully set up.
   • Edit, delete, or verify your group as needed.
   • View the group profile to see how it looks.
   • Click Save and Continue to finalize your changes.

3. Review Roommate Matching Questions
   You can now see the answers submitted by group members to roommate matching questions.

Joining a Group

If you’re not creating your own group and want to join an existing one, follow these steps:

1. Start Your Search

   • Click Join Group.
   • Enter the group name of the one you’d like to join.

2. Send Your Request

   • Click Join Group to submit your request.
   • You’ll see a confirmation message letting you know your request was sent.
   • Your Outgoing Requests list will now show your pending requests.

Searching for Roommate Groups

1. Find a Group

   • Click Search for Roommate Group.
   • Use the filters on the left-hand side to narrow down the results.

2. Request to Join

   • Once you find a group, click Join Group.
   • A message will confirm your request was sent, and it will appear in your Outgoing Requests list.

Suggesting Roommates

1. Get Suggestions

   • Click Suggest Roommates.
   • You’ll see a list of potential matches based on a specific matching threshold. (Only users who’ve created groups will appear.)

2. Take Action
   From the suggestions, you can:

   • Add to Group: Invite them to join your group.
   • Send Message: Reach out to them directly.
   • View Profile: Learn more about them before making a decision.

Responding to Incoming Requests

1. Manage Requests

   • If someone requests to join your group, you can either accept or decline their request.

2. Next Steps

   • If you decline, the requester will receive a message letting them know.
   • If you accept, you’ll have additional options, such as:
     • Removing them from the group.
     • Making them a group leader.
     • Sending them a message or viewing their profile.

Residence hall rooms and apartments with shared bathrooms are assigned as single-gender units based on gender provided through the university's admission application. There are no gender-specific buildings or floors, so neighbors may be of any gender. Students seeking a housing assignment with roommates can voluntarily opt into All Gender Housing in any residential space during the housing application process. Students must specifically opt into this option and will then be placed with other students who have also opted into to All Gender Housing. This option is popular for students who want to live with partners, students who are interested living with any student, etc. If a student opts in and decide they would like to opt out, or want to obtain more information about All Gender Housing, email housing@tamucc.edu.
