Students interested in joining our engineering program must meet the university’s admissions requirements. Students can either be admitted as engineering or pre-engineering students based whether they meet the following engineering admissions criteria:
Incoming freshmen who have a SAT math score of 580 or above, or ACT math score of 24 or above are admitted to the engineering program. Students who have earned a SAT math score of 640 or above, or ACT math score of 27 or above are eligible to take Calculus I in their first semester. Otherwise, admitted students will take Trigonometry in their first semester.
Transfer students must have an overall GPA of 2.5, must have completed at least 12 credit hours of STEM courses that are on their chosen engineering degree plan, and have earned an average GPA of 2.5 in their STEM courses to be admitted to the engineering program.
Pre-engineering students are those students who do not meet the direct admission criteria listed above, they are admitted to the engineering program as pre-engineering students. Those enrolled as pre-engineering students will be admitted to the program when they meet the admission requirements stated for transfer students. A change of major form, initiated by the student, will be required to transfer into an engineering degree-granting program.

Our Mechanical and Electrical Engineering programs are accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET, www.abet.org; our Mechanical Engineering Technology program is accredited by the Engineering Technology Accreditation Commission of ABET, www.abet.org
Students in mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, and civil engineering take the same coursework during the first three semesters in their program. Students in these three programs can easily switch within these majors at ease within the first three semesters.
