Coastal Bend Midstream Program

Summary: The Coastal Bend Midstream Program (CBMP) is an educational and research program housed in the College of Engineering and Computer Science at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi (TAMU-CC).  The CBMP will deliver a strong value proposition to the hydrocarbon transportation, processing, LNG, and storage industry (“Midstream Industry”) through: 

  • Industry-driven applied research.
  • Enhancing TAMU-CC faculty and student knowledge and understanding of Midstream Industry engineering, operations, and career opportunities. 
  • Knowledge transfer.
  • Midstream Industry-focused annual issue surveys, webinars, essay contests, scholarships, internships, co-ops, faculty externships, workshops, plant trips, and campus events.
  • Incorporating Midstream Industry content into the TAMU-CC curriculum. 
  • Hosting regular CBMP research reviews with industry partners.
  • Collaboration with industry organizations, PHMSA, and DOE.

Applied Research: CBMP research is opportunistic but focused on:

  • AI/Machine Learning - e.g., operations efficiency, predictive maintenance, and material science.
  • Materials Science and Surface Chemistry - e.g., hard spots and H2 impact on safety equipment.
  • GIS - e.g., pipeline system geohazard database.
  • Industrial Engineering - e.g., robotics and operations efficiency.
  • Civil Engineering – e.g., smart cement.
