Coastal Bend Engineering Competitions have been hosted by the Department of Engineering at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi (TAMU-CC) since 2010. The goal of the competition is to provide students in grades 6 – 12 with the opportunity to experience engineering through hands-on fun activities while competing against student teams from various area schools. There are no prior prerequisites required to enter the competition. Each school campus can register up to four teams. Teams consist of a maximum of five students. All project materials and rules will be provided to the teams on the day of the competition. Space is limited, so register early.
This competition takes place in Februrary, typically the Friday of National Engineers Week.
Policies
- Visiting groups must be accompanied by adult chaperones/teachers/sponsors. We require one chaperone for every 20 students.
- Responsibility for each group rests with the designated adults, not A&M-‐Corpus Christi.
- Visiting students and guests must conduct themselves respectfully while on campus. Disruptive behavior is not permitted. A&M-‐Corpus Christi’s staff reserve the right to dismiss a group should disruptive behavior occur. Students are not permitted to approach any classrooms, labs, or offices.
- The students and guests are expected to treat all university property with respect. Any vandalism, graffiti or damages will not be tolerated.
- Sponsors are asked to cooperate with the A&M-Corpus Christi Staff to ensure that the students get the most out of the activity. If the students are getting excessively out of hand, we ask that the sponsors please assist in controlling the students.
- For your comfort, groups should dress for the weather and wear comfortable walking shoes – a light jacket is encouraged as the ballrooms tend to be cold.
