Benefits of Island Harbor

Students in Island Harbor will have access to various events and workshops that focus on various topics including:

  • Budgeting and Financial Planning

  • Accessing Resources both on campus and in the community
  • Planning for life after graduation, such as career exploration and graduate school applications
  • Connections with mentors in the community
  • Social events that can provide for a break from classes and increase a sense of belonging such as dinners and/or holiday celebrations.

Participating in Island Harbor can come with various benefits, including:

  • Free Printing
  • Access to the Connect 2 Success Lounge
  • Access to the Connect 2 Success Care Closet, where students can get free school supplies or hygiene items
  • Advocacy and Support from TAMU-CC staff and peers
  • Assistance in figuring out where to go on campus to get questions answered
  • Referrals to resources both on campus and in the community
  • Personal and Professional Development opportunities
  • Opportunities for social engagement with peers

Students participating in the Supervised Independent Living Program on campus (and those SIL students who continue to be active with the program after turning 21) will receive some additional benefits such as:

  • Opportunity to create an Amazon wish list each year during the holidays, which is shared in the community to celebrate
  • Connection with a local non-profit who will purchase the student’s Islander Ring
  • Island Harbor stole to wear at commencement
  • For graduation, the program will fund their application for graduation, cap and gown, Islander Lei, and a diploma frame.
