First-Year Symposium
First-Year Symposium (FYS) is a two-day event held at the end of each fall semester that involves all 2,000+ first-year students. Students work individually or in small groups to present posters based on the work in their University Seminar class. The event is open to the campus community to provide students with an audience for whom to demonstrate their learning, as well as to celebrate their successes in transitioning to life as an Islander.
The Fall 2026 First-Year Symposium will be held November 16th-17th in the UC Anchor Ballroom.
