Semester Programming Details
Fall Semester

Group 1 (Graduating)

  • Start Graduate School Applications to Provide Early Prompts for Recommenders
  • Finish Research Project
  • Fall Graduates will Have an Opportunity to Present their Scholarly Work at External Conferences

Group 2 (New and Non-Graduating/Continuing Scholars)

  • Finish Research Project (Continuing Scholars)
  • Continuing Scholars will Assist to Acclimate New Scholars
  • Orient New Scholars to Program Expectations
  • Acquire CITI Training/Certification
  • Interview and Choose a McNair Mentor
  • Understand the Value of Applying for External Summer Opportunities
  • Writing a Personal and Research Statement for External Programs
Spring Semester

Group 1 (Graduating)

  • Make Final Decisions and Acceptances for Graduate School
  • Spring Graduates will Present their Research Project at TAMU-CC & External Conferences

Group 2 (Non-Graduating/Continuing and New Scholars)

  • Prepare New and Continuing Scholars to Create Research Proposal
  • Introduce Concepts Specific to the Philosophy of Inquiry
  • Introduce Common Parts of Research Proposals
  • Continuing Scholars will Present their Research Projects at TAMU-CC Symposium
Summer Semester
  • All Scholars Gather Data for their Proposals and Finish Projects
  • Graduating Scholars (Fall/Spring) will Gather Application Portfolio (Includes Program Selection, Letter of Intent/Personal Statement, Development of a CV, and Recommender List)
