Student Expectations
As a GTF Islander Scholar, you are required to actively participate in the program each semester to remain in good standing and continue receiving your scholarship.
Each semester, Scholars must complete:
- 2 GTF Success Sessions – activities designed to support your academic, personal, and professional growth.
- 1 Financial Education Event – a workshop or session focused on building financial knowledge and skills.
These requirements are designed to help you stay on track academically, prepare for your future career, and develop essential life skills.
Approved GTF Success Sessions
The following count toward your 2 Success Sessions each semester:
- Academic Growth Sessions
(e.g., Power Hour study sessions, test prep workshops, goal-setting events) - Peer Coach Meetings
(one-on-one meetings with your assigned Peer Coach) - Workshops & Events hosted by the GTF Scholars Program
- Career & Professional Development Events
(e.g., résumé and cover letter workshops, internship fairs, networking events)
Approved Financial Education Events
Examples of Financial Education Events include:
- Budgeting workshops
- Credit management sessions
- Saving and investing basics
- Other campus-hosted financial literacy programs
