State Employee Charitable Campaign (SECC)

You can choose from nearly 400 participating statewide, national, or international charities or as well as charities here in the Coastal Bend.  The organizations are listed online in SSO when you make your contribution (see How Do I Give? below) or you can view this year's SECC charity site here .  All participating organizations must meet strict eligibility standards established by state law, and they are screened by the SECC State Policy Committee.  You can feel confident that your gift is being used efficiently and effectively by your designated charity or charities.

Early Bird Incentive: Donate $100 or more online by 11:59pm on Monday, September 30 to be entered into a drawing for great prizes, including a year-long garage parking pass, Islander Basketball season tickets, and more.

You can make a contribution in two ways:

1. Make a contribution online
   Go to sso.tamus.edu (login and select ‘SECC Enrollment’ from the SSO Menu)
   1. Select 'Payroll Deduction' or 'One-Time Gift by Check or Cash.'
      1. Payroll Deduction
         1. Select Payroll Deduction and indicate one-time, 9 Month, or 12 Month deduction
         2. Select your charity or charities and designate the amount of gift
         3. Complete and submit the form
         4. Start dates for deductions
            1. Monthly Employees: December 2024 (January Paycheck)
            2. Bi-weekly Employees: January 2025 (2nd paycheck in January)
         5. Deductions can be stopped upon request by contacting your payroll office
      2. One-time gift by check or cash
         1. Select One-Time Gift by check or cash
         2. Select your charity or charities and designate the amount of gift
         3. Complete and submit the form
            1. Print out the post-submission page and send it to the campus SECC coordinator with check or cash
            2. Checks should be made out to SECC

2. Event Activity Pledge/Donation (not eligible for Early Bird)
   1. Join us in the Center for Instruction Courtyard on Wednesday, October 9 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. for Pizza-rama.
   2. The purpose of this fundraisers is to foster the SECC/TAMU-CC spirit of giving and encourage ongoing donations during the campaign. 
   3. Games, events and pizza sales will all benefit local charities via the SECC.

Some examples of the Islander Impact your gift makes:

$20 PER MONTH for one year:

• Provides food for one guide dog in advanced training.
• Buys six cases of non-latex gloves to keep volunteers safe during beach cleanups.
• Provides a full year of groceries for a homebound senior.
• Supports training in an environmental career for a person with a disability.

$10 PER MONTH for one year:

• Screens one uninsured woman for breast cancer.
• Pays for a veteran’s occupational certification to find employment.
• Underwrites free museum admission for 30 students.
• Will help a family in crisis with their monthly utility or grocery bills.

$5 PER MONTH for one year:

• Sponsors eyes exams for two children in need.
• Provides 12 students with an interactive CD on college-age depression and suicide.
• Covers the registration fee for one patient or family member to attend the National Organization for Rare Disorders Patient/Family Conference.
• Underwrites equipment and supplies for five people to spend a morning cleaning a beach or river bank.
