The Genomics Core Lab accepts student volunteers from the university. Since its inception, the GCL has brought in over 100 undergraduate volunteers; since January 2024, over 60 volunteers have come through the lab.
There are none! We have no requirements to be a volunteer in the lab. You can be any classification (freshman, sophomore, junior, senior) and have any level of experience (none, some, a ton). Our only requirement is that you complete a few safety trainings during your first volunteer shifts and volunteer for a minimum 4 hours a week (or two 2 hour shifts). We expect our volunteers to be punctual and communicative.
Volunteers have to opportunity to learn many lab-based skills. The longer a volunteer stays with us, the more skills they learn. Some possible skills are:

Our lab is open for scheduled tours. We've put on tours for classes, university open house, and visiting researchers. If you'd like to schedule a tour to learn a more about our cutting-edge research facility, please reach out to us.
