Nurse Educator, MSN
The MSN Nurse Educator degree is designed for academic or clinical education. RNs will not develop an expertise in a clinical specialty through specialty course work however they are expected to advance their knowledge in their preferred specialty through the educator courses.
The Nurse Educator degree is offered completely online and courses meet the curricular requirements for students to sit for the National League of Nursing Certified Nurse Educator Certification Examination certification@nln.org.

*Complete application should be received for full admissions and funding consideration.
The MSN Nurse Educator program uses a rolling admission process during the admissions cycle. However, we encourage students to apply early. This will allow for enough time to also apply for and qualify for federal student aid and scholarships. Applications will not be reviewed until all required materials have been submitted and received. The college reserves the right to defer admission in the case of low enrollment. Students will be notified and given options if a selected program is not offered.

Requirements:
REQUIREMENT #1: Submit an Application at- Apply Texas
Once you have submitted via Apply Texas you will receive a Student ID (A#) from TAMUCC In 3-5 business days. You will need this A# throughout the application process.
REQUIREMENT #2: Submit a Resume- Please email to gradweb@tamucc.edu with your student ID (A#) and the program you are applying for in the subject line.
This resume should not simply be a list of the places where you have worked but should include an outline of your professional and scholarly activities. It may be more than one page. You should present your information starting with most recent activities and ending with your earlier experiences. You can include activities you completed as a student if you graduated from your undergraduate program less than two years ago. Include in your resume
- Name and contact information
- Education (date and name of institutions where degrees earned)
- Professional licensures and certification with expiration dates noted
- Employment (include relevant details to demonstrate level of expertise where appropriate)
- Awards and honors
- Research experiences (in any role other than participant)
- Publications, presentations, workshops in which you were a speaker/presenter
- Professional membership (indicate leadership roles when appropriate)
- Workplace committee/taskforce memberships (include leadership positions you may have held in these experiences)
- Other organizational memberships (include leadership roles when appropriate)
REQUIREMENT #3: Submit an Essay- Please email to gradweb@tamucc.edu with your student ID (A#) and the program you are applying for in the subject line.
Write an essay/personal statement that describes your goals related to graduate education in nursing. In the essay, please be specific about how a Masters of Science in Nursing (in your specific track of interest) will add to your current foundation of knowledge and enable you to further your career goals. You should also describe the position you anticipate seeking upon completion of the MSN degree and how this education will prepare you to work in the new role or support your current role. Applicants are encouraged to review the Texas Board of Nursing for reference. Finally, explain how your current professional experiences and the graduate education you are seeking create a foundation for your future career goal.
REQUIREMENT #4: Submit a copy of a valid unencumbered Texas Nursing License- License Submission Link
To obtain this license visit go to the Texas Board of Nursing Licensure Verification. Enter your RN License Number and press “submit”. Print the license as a PDF saving it to your computer.
REQUIREMENT #5: Have 3 references submit the- CONHS Reference Form
To do this, go to Recommendation Request. Fill out your information and provide 3-4 recommender email addresses. The emails you provide will receive a prompt to complete the CONHS Reference Form on your behalf. They DO NOT need to submit an original recommendation letter. Three reference must be received for this requirement to be considered complete.
REQUIREMENT #6:
- Submit transcripts
Official transcripts documenting all undergraduate and graduate course work taken at any accredited college or university attended. Official transcripts must be sent directly to Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi from the granting institutions.

Special Program Requirements
- Upon admission to the College, complete a criminal background check.
- Complete a five panel non-chain of custody urine drug screen.
- Purchase professional liability coverage through the University. Fees for this coverage are included in the fees paid at the time of registration at the beginning of each academic year.
- Meet Texas Department of State Health Services immunization requirements for students involved with direct patient contact. Students who are not in compliance with these requirements will not be allowed to attend clinical laboratories. These requirements, as stated in the Texas Administrative Code, Title 25, Part 1, Chapter 97, Subchapter B, Rule 97.64 include the following:
a)Students may be provisionally enrolled for up to one semester to allow students to attend classes while obtaining the required vaccines and acceptable evidence of vaccination.
b)Students cannot be provisionally enrolled without at least one dose of measles, mumps, and rubella vaccine if direct patient contact will occur during the provisional enrollment period.
c)Polio vaccine is not required. Students enrolled in health-related courses are encouraged to ascertain that they are immune to poliomyelitis.
d)One dose of tetanus-diphtheria toxoid (Td) is required within the last ten years.
e)Students who were born on or after January 1, 1957, must show, prior to patient contact, acceptable evidence of vaccination of two doses of measles-containing vaccine administered since January 1, 1968.
f)Students must show, prior to patient contact, acceptable evidence of vaccination of one dose of rubella vaccine.
g)Students born on or after January 1, 1957, must show, prior to patient contact, acceptable evidence of vaccination of one dose of mumps vaccine.
h)Students shall receive a complete series of hepatitis B vaccine prior to the start of direct patient care or show serologic confirmation of immunity to hepatitis B virus.
i)Students shall receive two doses of varicella vaccine unless the first dose was received prior to thirteen years of age.
- Complete of a series of hepatitis A vaccine or serologic confirmation of immunity to hepatitis A virus before enrollment in courses with clinical laboratory experiences.
- Provide results of tuberculosis screening annually.
- Hold a Current American Heart Association CPR Type C certification.
Additional International Applicant Requirements
Application requirements for international applicants:
- Copy of current Visa (if applicable)
- English Language Proficiency. TAMUCC currently accepts the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) within the last 2 years :
- Official TOEFL score minimum paper-based score of 550 or internet-based score of 79-80
- Official IELTS score minimum 6.5
- TOEFL/IELTS will be waived if a valid Texas Nursing License is submitted.
All materials, including applications, transcripts, graduate form, and 3 reference forms must be received by Graduate Admissions by the application deadline. Please allow time for transcript processing, which can take up to two weeks.
Applicants whose documents are not received by Graduate Admissions by the posted date will not be considered for admission
