Brian Tietje Announced as Dean of the College of Business

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi announces Dr. Brian Tietje as dean of the College of Business. Tietje will join the Island University on Monday, August 9, 2021.

Tietje is a professor of Marketing and vice provost of International, Graduate, and Extended Education at California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo (Cal Poly), where he has been a member of the faculty for 22 years. He also served as associate dean of the Orfalea College of Business at Cal Poly from 2007-2010.

Tietje received his undergraduate degree in business from Bowling Green State University, his MBA from the University of Hawaii, and a Ph.D. from the University of Washington. Prior to his academic career, he enjoyed a successful career in sales and sales management for Johnson & Johnson Consumer Products Inc. He also served on the Board of Directors of the Economic Vitality Corporation, Weatherby, Inc., and Family Care Network, Inc.

As a first-generation college student, Tietje is a passionate advocate for student success. He is a past member of the editorial review board for the Journal of The First-Year Experience and Students in Transition. He has co-authored several books, including “Anybody’s Business,” “The College Experience,” and “A High School Parent’s Guide to College Success.”
