The Spirit of Homecoming Continues, Feb. 27
CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – The Spirit of Homecoming continues next week, Feb. 27. In light of recent weather, all in-person and virtual Homecoming events scheduled through Friday, Feb. 19, have been cancelled. However, Islander alumni, students, faculty, staff, and the public are still invited to celebrate during the Islander Men’s and Women’s basketball double-header, Saturday, Feb. 20, at the American Bank Center Arena, against the Lamar University Cardinals for the Southland Conference title.
Islanders are encouraged to show their spirit during the Kleberg Classic as the Islanders Baseball team plays the University of Houston, Saturday, Feb. 27 at 6 p.m. at Whataburger Field. Those in attendance are invited to stick around after the game for a special homecoming fireworks show, presented by Whataburger!
Other Homecoming traditions will also take place that night, including special giveaways, prizes, and the announcement of the Homecoming Islander Court! One of Homecoming’s biggest traditions, Lighting of the “I,” will take place following the game at 8:30 p.m., in the South Lot at Whataburger Field.
