A&M-Corpus Christi Earns Top 20 Spot for Best Online Texas Universities

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Excellence in online class offerings has never been more important than it is now. Following a state-wide shutdown in late March due to COVID-19, and the re-structured opening of Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi this fall, the Island University’s wealth of online and hybrid class resources has grown in size, offering Islanders the best online options possible. At present, 34% of classes are fully online, 53% are presented in a blended/hybrid format, and 13% are fully in person.

Recently, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi ranked 18th on the Learn.org list of Best Accredited Online Colleges in Texas.

“Online learning has a record of success at TAMU-CC. A holistic quality digital student experience that extends from the academic classroom to student engagement is what makes the Island University virtual experience unique and appealing for students”, said Dr. Michelle Singh, Associate Vice President for Teaching & Learning Technologies at A&M-Corpus Christi. “Our students engage in rigorous academic delivery while creating a bond with classmates through digital technology and acquire a digital information literacy skill set that will be their competitive edge upon graduation.”

Compiling a list of 50 accredited colleges in the state, Learn.org ranked each institution based on a specific criteria including cost, along with variety, availability, and flexibility of its programming. Tuition and percentage of students receiving financial aid was also highlighted in the ranking list. Learn.org also used data from a variety of different accredited sources, including the National Center for Education Statistics and the U.S. Department of Education.

“We live in a digital age, and it is important that our generation and future generations learn the basics of technology they are working with,” said Noah Evans, A&M-Corpus Christi senior and political science major. “Whether its understanding websites like Blackboard or learning how to run basic troubleshooting when your browser freezes; these are all things that can be learned and are useful to your academic and life success.”
