Ordering books for the library's collections

The Mary and Jeff Bell Library strives to collect and provide access to the information resources necessary to support the teaching and research of the university. We appreciate your help building the library’s collections by identifying those information needs.

Recommend an item be purchased for the library's main collection.

We are currently in the process of re-evaluating our process for selecting and ordering books for the library’s collection.

Changes in information technology—particularly the proliferation of ebooks and ebook purchasing models—along with changes in user preferences have led to decreasing use of the library’s print books.

We are taking a close look at book usage patterns and considering ways to increase the availability of academic ebooks and streamline the process for faculty to recommend specific books to add to our collections.

Rush processing

Have you ever found a title in the catalog marked in process? This means the library has the copy, but we haven’t made the item shelf ready yet. If you ever need a title in process, let the library know and we can hurry this along for you. For rush processing contact our Library Information Specialist in Acquisitions at 361-825-2413.
