After a 2-year hiatus, we are excited to announce that the Islander Band Camp is returning in Summer 2022, bigger and better than ever!

The Texas A&M University Corpus Christi Islander Band Camps offer middle school, junior high and high school students the opportunity to come to the "Island University" for a week of music and fun. The students can “recharge” their musical batteries as they get ready for the school year!

The camp is open to all high school and middle school students with at least one year of experience on a woodwind, brass, or percussion instrument. Students will experience music-making with TAMUCC faculty and other outstanding music artists and educators. Classes include group lessons, sectionals, full ensemble rehearsals, and a variety of music electives. Students will also enjoy activities each day, including games and recitals.

The camp runs July 11-15, 2022 with classes and activities from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM Monday through Thursday. Camp will end following the Camp Concert on Friday, July 15th at 3:00 p.m. The concert is free and open to the public.

This Year’s Conductors

We are excited to welcome two great conductors and music teachers to this year’s camp.

Jake Albin has taught in Aledo (TX) Independent School District since 200, and he currently directs concert bands, jazz bands, and he teaches music technology. A graduate of Texas Tech University, Mr. Albin is a distinguished teacher who has worked with students of all ages.
Rosalinda Morales
Rosalinda Morales is the Director of Bands at Grant Middle School in Corpus Christi.  Previously, Ms. Morales was band director in Ingleside, Texas. She has led bands to great acclaim at contests and festivals.


All band camp students will complete a simple and painless audition for band placement. This is not an audition to get into the camp – ALL students with at least one year of experience on their instrument will be welcomed at the camp. Auditions will be held on the morning of the first day of camp in the Center for the Arts building. Students should bring their own audition music, something that will best show off their skills and musicianship.


High School students that made the All-State bands and participated in the concerts at the TMEA Convention in San Antonio, TX, all receive a $250 scholarship to attend the TAMUCC Islander Band Camp. In addition, we offer a $100 band camp scholarship to students that made the All-Area bands, and a $50 scholarship to all-region participants. All double reed students (oboe and bassoon) also receive a $100 scholarship. For more details and to verify that you qualify for a scholarship, please contact Dr. Brian Shelton.

Registration Information

The fee for the camp is $300 for commuters and $500 for resident campers. Optional costs include a Camp Concert CD ($20).

The commuter fee includes camp tuition, lunch, and a camp t-shirt. Commuters who stay for evening activities may bring their dinners or purchase meals in the dining hall. Commuters who are driving themselves to camp must purchase a campus parking permit.

The resident fee includes camp tuition, room, and all meals.

Resident camper applications must be received by June 24, 2022, and commuter camper applications must be received by July 6, 2022. Applications must be accompanied by a $50 deposit or you may pay the full amount. All registration will be done through CircuiTree, TAMUCC’s official registration and payment system.
