GULF 3101: Gulf of Mexico Studies I (1 credit hour) is currently being offered in Fall 2023 on Wednesdays from 5:30 p.m. to 6:45 p.m.  In Spring 2024, the follow-on course, GULF 3102: Gulf of Mexico Studies II (1 credit hour), will also be offered on Wednesdays from 5:30 p.m. to 6:45 p.m.

The application linked above will ask for your contact details, demographics, and student information (including your A#, declared major, and number of credits completed).

It also includes the following short essay questions, limited to 250 words each:

  • How did you learn about the Gulf Scholars Program?
  • Tell us about yourself and the things of which you are most proud.
  • What are your personal interests in and connections to the Gulf of Mexico region?
  • How would you like to see the Gulf of Mexico region improved and how do you envision your role in these improvements?
  • Why are you interested in the Gulf Scholars Program?
  • How would a GSP Certificate benefit you in your intended career or personal enrichment goals?
  • How would financial support help you participate in GSP classes and activities?
  • Is there anything else that you would like to tell us?

Your answers will help us determine which applicants are the best fit, given the limited number of spaces and scholarships available. Your completed application also serves as the application for financial support.

We appreciate your interest and are happy to answer any questions at gulfscholars@tamucc.edu.
