Graduate Student Orientation

As a new graduate student at TAMU-CC we're here to support you every step of the way. As you begin your Islander Journey, there are two pieces that will help you acclimate to campus: Departmental meetings with your chosen discipline, and a virtual orientation course.

As part of your successful start, it is important that you complete our Graduate Student Orientation Virtual Course. This course is designed to help you navigate the learning environment here at TAMU-CC, familiarize yourself with the campus resources available to you, and ensure that you're fully prepared for your studies.

Why this Virtual Orientation Course is Important:

  • Get Acquainted with Graduate Learning: Learn how to access your courses, preparing for success, learning what classes to take, and more.
  • Discover Student Resources: Explore the various support services available, including mental health support, library resources, and technical assistance.
  • Set Yourself Up for Success: Gain valuable tips and strategies for time management, study habits, and balancing your coursework with other responsibilities.

What to Expect:

  • Interactive Modules: Engaging and easy-to-follow content that will guide you through the essentials of TAMU-CC.
  • Completion Quiz: Upon finishing the course, you'll take a brief quiz confirming all you’ve learned.
  • Time Commitment:  This course should take you less than an hour.  It is optional for graduate students but packed with information that will be useful to you as you begin your graduate journey.
  • Available as a Resource:  This course will remain available in your Canvas portal during your first semester. It is a handy resource to reference if you have questions on campus resources.

How to Access the Course:
