Staff Council

Purpose or Function: The Staff Council is an elected body of non-faculty employees. As a recommending and advisory body, the council reports to the Vice President for Finance and Administration and/or the President of the university. The organization functions in accordance with its constitution and bylaws. The council serves to represent all benefits-eligible employees of the university not currently represented by other representative bodies of the university (e.g., President’s Cabinet and Faculty Advisory Council).

Membership: Membership is defined in the Staff Council constitution. To be eligible to serve on the council, prospective representatives must have completed one (1) year of regular, benefits-eligible employment at TAMU-CC prior to the commencement of their elected term of office. Terms shall be staggered as such that one-half of the members' terms expire in odd years and one-half expire in even years, with elections conducted annually. Council representatives can serve a maximum of two (2) consecutive terms. Following a year off the Council, a former council member is again eligible to serve on the Council. Council membership will be comprised of one (1) representative for every 30 constituents in each division (as defined in the bylaws) with at least one (1) representative per division. Additional non-voting ex-officio members will include: the immediate past president of Staff Council, the current Faculty Advisory Council Speaker, the Staff Council Advisor, and the Chief Human Resources Officer (or designee).
