Veterans Success Committee
Purpose or Function: The Veterans Success Committee shares ideas, evaluates options, and reviews and recommends guidelines and actions to improve and expand services for all the campuses military service members, veterans, and their dependents. This committee ensures that TAMU-CC is committed to the best practices required for proper recruitment, retention, and holistic support for all military- and veteran-connected students. The committee will oversee TAMU-CC’s commitment to the Department of Veterans Affairs’ 8 Keys to Success and the best practices of the Servicemembers Opportunity Colleges and Military Student Bill of Rights. Additionally, the committee will strive to aid TAMU-CC in honoring and supporting members of the faculty and staff who are connected to the military or veterans.
Membership: The committee is chaired by the Director of Military and Veteran Services and is comprised of representatives from the following offices as appointed by the area supervisor: Recruitment and Admissions, University Registrar, Student Financial Assistance, Office of Student Success, Disability Services, University Counseling Center, Career and Professional Development Center, and Student Engagement and Success, and the Mary and Jeff Bell Library. Two (2) faculty representatives are recommended by Faculty Senate and appointed by their respective dean/director. Appointed faculty and staff members will serve three-year renewable terms. The Student Government Association’s veteran senator will serve a one-year renewable term. Voting ex-officio members include the Special Assistant to the Vice President for Enrollment Management, ROTC Commander (ROTC Professor of Military Science), the I-CARE Case Manager, the faculty advisor to the Student Veterans Organization, and the President of the Student Veterans Organization.
