International Education Committee

Purpose or Function: International Education Committee shall serve in an advisory role to the Office of International Education (OIE). The committee will promote the educational mission of the university, especially as it relates to the university's strategic plan. The committee will bring awareness around the campus for the international programs, review and evaluate OIE’s priorities, and identify and make recommendations on how to best integrate international and domestic students, expand study abroad opportunities, and internationalize the university and community.

Membership: The main criteria for participation in the IEC shall be that each organization and its representative demonstrate a genuine interest in the internationalization of the campus. The committee includes, one (1) appointed representative from each of the following units: International Student Organization (ISO), Student Government Association (SGA), University Council of Student Organizations (UCSO), Graduate Council, Staff Council, and a faculty member from each academic college/school to be appointed by the dean/director. Faculty and staff members will serve two-year staggered, renewable terms.  Student members will serve one-year renewable terms. The Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, Associate Vice President for School and Community Relations, University Registrar, OIE Director, and OIE Assistant Director serve as voting ex-officio members. Designees may be appointed for ex-officio members. In addition to these voting members, a representative from the World Affairs Council of South Texas will be appointed by the committee chair to serve a two-year renewable term as a non-voting member.
