Environmental Committee

Purpose or Function: The Environmental Committee is responsible for coordinating institutional stewardship of the environment through developing environmental policy and overseeing the implementation and effectiveness of the university’s environmental management system (EMS). The committee serves to review and recommend for available funding "Green Initiative" proposals submitted by members of the campus community based on the project's feasibility, affordability, and potential impact on the environment.

MembershipThe Environmental, Health & Safety Director serves as the chair of the committee.  The rest of the committee consists of three (3) faculty members recommended by Faculty Senate and appointed by their respective dean/director, one (1) Staff Council representative, one (1) student appointed by the Student Government Association, and a Facilities Services representative appointed by their supervisor. Appointed faculty/staff members serve a two-year renewable term, and the student member serves a one-year renewable term. A student must maintain full-time student status to remain on the committee.  The committee chair may appoint members to the committee for one-year terms as appropriate. The Associate Vice President for Operations serves as a voting ex-officio member.
