Retention Rates

Definition: The number and percentage of full-time first-time degree-seeking freshmen who enroll during one fall term and return the next fall term at TAMUCC or any other institutions.

Achievement Goal: 

  • First-to-Second Year: 68%
  • First-to-Second Year - Return for 2nd Fall to Any University: 75%
  • First-to-Third Year: 55%

Threshold of Acceptability:

  • First-to-Second Year: 53% (All Students), 52% (Hispanic Students)

Graduation Rates
 

Definition: The graduation rate is calculated by following a cohort of first time full-time degree-seeking freshmen and determining the number of students in the cohort who were awarded undergraduate degrees after four and six years as a percentage of the total number of students in the freshman cohort either in TAMUCC or any other institutions. 

Achievement Goal:

  • Four-Year Graduation Rate: 25% 
  • Six-Year Graduation Rate: 55%
  • Six-Year Graduation Rate from Any University: 60%

Threshold of Acceptability:

  • Four-Year Graduation Rate: 16% (All Students), 14% (Hispanic Students)

Progression Rates
 

Definition: (1) the percentage of first-time undergraduate students who completed 30 credit hours after year one and completed 60 credit hours after year two at TAMUCC. (2) the percentage of first-time undergraduate students who completed 30 credit hours after year one and completed 60 credit hours after year two at TAMUCC including dual credits and transfer credit hours brought by the students.

Achievement Goal: 

  • 30 SCH after Year 1: 40%
  • 60 SCH after Year 2: 38%
  • 30 SCH after Year 1 (with dual credits and transfer hours): 60%
  • 60 SCH after Year 2 (with dual credits and transfer hours): 45%

Course Completion Rates 

Definition: The percent of semester credit hours completed. The total number of semester credit hours for which students (including flex students) are enrolled on the last day of the semester divided by the number of semester credit hours for which students were enrolled on the census day for the fall and spring semesters or the
appropriate census day for summer sessions.

Achievement Goal: 85%

Threshold of Acceptability: 70%

licensure/Certification Exam Pass Rates 

Definition: (1)The percentage of the institution’s nursing program graduates attempting the state licensing examination who pass all parts either before graduation from the program, or within the twelve months immediately following graduation from the program.(2)The percentage of the institution’s undergraduate teacher education program graduates attempting the state licensing examination who pass all parts either before graduation from the program, or within the twelve months immediately following graduation from the program.(3) The percentage of the institution’s undergraduate engineering program graduates attempting the state licensing examination who pass all parts either before graduation from the program, or within the twelve months immediately following graduation or any required internship.

Achievement Goal: 98% (Nursing), 95% (Education)

Definition: Displays the percentage of students who participated in one or more HIPs, relative to those at comparison group institutions.

Student Completion Indicator: IPEDS Outcome Measure (8-Year Reward Rate)
 

Definition: From the adjusted 2012-13 cohort, report the number of students who earned an award at eight years after entry for each subcohort. Report the highest award earned for each degree/certificate-seeking student for the eight-year status point (August 31, 2020) even if a student earns multiple awards (from IPEDS).

Achievement Goal: 47%
