Honoring Excellence: Dr. Jose Baca Featured for Hispanic Heritage Month
Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi takes great pride in the achievements of its Engineering faculty, with the recent feature of Dr. Jose Baca on KIII-TV for Hispanic Heritage Month being a moment of special recognition. As an Associate Professor of Electrical Engineering, Dr. Baca’s journey has brought him across the world to South Texas, where he now mentors and inspires the next generation of engineers
Baca’s path to academia is truly an international one: he earned his bachelor’s degree in Mexico, completed a master’s degree in Germany, and received his Ph.D. in Spain. With his identity as a Hispanic engineer being a defining aspect of his life, Baca is determined to increase Hispanic representation in the field, which currently accounts for just 9% of the U.S. engineering workforce. A persistent agent of change and highly accomplished engineer in the field of Uncrewed Autonomous Systems and Modular Robotics, Baca has collaborated with some of the most iconic institutions within his discipline, such as NASA. In the classroom, Baca advocates for diversity in STEM and encourages his students to push boundaries and pursue goals they might have thought were not possible.
