Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Competition
A group of students from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi participated in the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Competition in Aurora, Colorado, on April 22, 2023. The team was composed of Scott Tardif ’23, Matthew Salas ‘23, Shelby Carroll ‘25, Nadia Khodja ‘23, Jerin Henderson ‘24, and Amine Khodja ‘23. For the competition, the group built a ground robot and a drone that moved through an obstacle course and communicated with each other through QR codes. The team was highly prepared for this competition because they had already built a ground robot and drone for a previous senior project.
“For students that are just starting out as freshmen or sophomores, being involved with IEEE can offer a better understanding of what they're going to need to know for their capstones,” Tardif said.
The team won second place in both robotic rounds and received a $1,200 award which was split among the team members.
