Hurricane Preparedness Continues
As we prepare for the upcoming storm, the safety of our campus community remains our top priority. In accordance with our hurricane preparedness plan, the University Police Department will begin placing barricades at all main entrances to campus at noon on Sunday, July 7.
While the barricades are up, access to campus is restricted and only those with Tier 1 status on the university’s Incident Command team will be allowed to enter. We will send additional information when the barricades are removed.
As a reminder, the university has deployed its remote operation plans for Monday, July 8, for both business and academic purposes. Students are advised to monitor Canvas to stay current with their classes. Employees can access tools for remote work by visiting Anytime Anywhere Access or calling the IT Service Desk for support at 361.825.2692. Managers and faculty are encouraged to remain flexible, as inclement weather may impact internet connectivity and power availability.
The university anticipates shifting back to in-person work and classes on Tuesday, July 9, to include all university offices and services.
We will continue to monitor the storm and provide updates via Code Blue, the university website, and our social media channels. For the most up-to-date weather information, tune in to your local media outlets. President Miller and the Incident Command team remind you to prioritize your safety by staying informed about weather conditions and taking necessary precautions.
Stay safe, stay connected, and stay alert.
