Shakas Up, Islanders!! Registration for summer and fall classes at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi is now open.
Each fall semester, the Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi community welcomes new and returning students to campus. During Waves of Welcome (WOW), students transition to life on the Island by attending university events sponsored by student organizations, campus departments, and academic colleges.
Through WOW, students:
WOW includes educational programs, social events, involvement opportunities, traditions, and resource-based programming hosted across campus.
WOW will hold select spaces in the University Center from August 19 - September 6 to assist with streamlined WOW event planning and scheduling.
Please note that WOW is not holding minor meeting spaces like Cayo 210, Copano 216, Dolphin 306, Redfish 307, Marlin 317, Island Room 316, and Swordfish 324.
July 13th – Release of Lonestar Ballroom 142, Bayview 320, Bay Hall Lawn, and Anchor Plaza
July 20th – Release of all spaces, including Legacy 145, Anchor Ballroom 147, Oso 221, the Rotunda, and East Lawn.
July 21st – Hosts/organizers will be responsible for reserving their space on campus.
Yes. Student organizations may independently host WOW events.
Registered student organizations may independently host WOW events.
Organizations seeking funding reimbursement support should coordinate with Gillian Benedetti (Gillian.Benedetti@tamucc.edu). Funding processes and reimbursement eligibility may vary based on funding source and university guidelines.
If your event is approved, the WOW Committee will coordinate the release of your approved space through the WOW process.
Yes, but WOW events must remain open and welcoming to all students. If an event is targeted to a certain demographic (race, religion, gender, etc.), you must be open to any demographic of students attending.
The WOW Committee may suggest alternative dates or times to reduce conflicts and support overall calendar flow.
Absolutely. Collaboration is encouraged and often leads to stronger student engagement.
Yes. WOW events may take place across campus, depending on space availability and approval. WOW events must take place on campus properties.
Please notify the WOW Committee as soon as possible regarding any changes to your event information.
