1. ACSM Exercise is Medicine^® (EIM^®) Credential

Exercise is Medicine^® offers a credential program that recognizes exercise professionals who possess the education and skills to work closely with the health care community and referred patients, including those with common chronic diseases and health conditions.

2. ACSM Clinical Exercise Physiologist^® (CEP^®)

The ACSM Certified Clinical Exercise Physiologist^® (ACSM-CEP) is an allied health professional with a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in exercise science or equivalent and 1,200 hours of clinical hands-on experience or a master’s degree in clinical exercise physiology and 600 hours of hands-on clinical experience. ACSM-CEPs utilize prescribed exercise, basic health behavior interventions and promote physical activity for individuals with chronic diseases or conditions.

3. NSCA Certified Special Population Specialists^® (CSPS^®)

Are fitness professionals who, using an individualized approach, assess, motivate, educate, and train special population clients of all ages regarding their health and fitness needs, preventively, and in collaboration with healthcare professionals. They design safe and effective exercise programs, provide the guidance to help clients achieve their personal health/fitness goals, and recognize and respond to emergency situations. Recognizing their own areas of expertise, CSPS receive referrals from and refer clients to other healthcare providers as appropriate.

4. NSCA Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist^® (CSCS^®)

The CSCS program recognizes individuals with the knowledge and skills to design and implement safe, effective strength and conditioning programs for athletes in a team setting. Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialists are professionals who apply scientific knowledge to train athletes for the primary goal of improving athletic performance.

Students will learn the process of assessing, prescribing, and evaluating the impact of exercise in both clinical and performance populations. After taking concentration courses such as prevention and care of athletic injuries, exercise testing and physiology, biomechanics, and essentials of strength & conditioning, students will participate in internships that focused on either rehabilitation and/or fitness. This program integrates a specific set of prerequisite courses designed for each profession for those who want to enter the health and allied health profession.

The minor in education requires a minimum of 122 credits:
