Professional Counseling Hispanic Mental Health (HSON) Online Program
The Master of Science in Professional Counseling-Hispanic Mental Health Counseling (HSON) prepares graduates to work as professional counselors with a critical understanding of the unique needs and experiences of Hispanic clients.
Program Details
The program is offered 100% online with synchronous classes conducted in the evenings via Zoom. Cohorts will follow a prescribed course sequencing of (2 to 3 courses) per semester. The curriculum, including all field experience courses, is designed to be completed in three years (fall, spring, and summer semesters each year). Consistent with CACREP accreditation standards, students will attend two in person residencies in Corpus Christi, TX.
With its emphasis on Hispanic mental health, the program faculty trains students to assess, conceptualize, diagnose, and treat Hispanic mental health issues and clinical presentations through a lens of cultural sensitivity. Synchronous class meetings will be held each week during specified times. Courses will be taught in English; however, there will be some courses in which Spanish language skills are reviewed.
