CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — As the new academic year begins, Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi is celebrating national recognition as a 2025-2026 College of Distinction — a testament to its commitment to delivering a student-centered, high-impact undergraduate experience.

Awarded by Colleges of Distinction, the designation places TAMU-CC among a select group of institutions across the country recognized for its engaged student body, exceptional teaching, vibrant campus life, and student success beyond the classroom. Rather than relying on traditional rankings and standardized test scores, Colleges of Distinction evaluates schools based on their ability to provide high-impact educational practices and holistic student support.

“This distinction is more than a badge — it’s a reflection of the energy, dedication, and innovation happening across campus every single day,” said Dr. Catherine Rudowsky, TAMU-CC Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs. “It’s an achievement our entire Islander community can celebrate.”

The selection process focuses on four core areas:

  • Engaged Students: Hands-on research, service learning, internships, and first-year experiences
  • Great Teaching: Personalized attention and strong faculty mentorship
  • Vibrant Community: A spirited campus culture on the Texas Gulf Coast
  • Successful Outcomes: A proven track record of preparing graduates for meaningful careers and advanced study

“Texas A&M-Corpus Christi has crafted a campus culture where students are empowered to take ownership of their learning,” said Tyson Schritter, CEO at Colleges of Distinction. “Its programs reflect the kind of innovation and intentionality that prepare students for life after graduation.”

The Island University was also recognized for excellence in specific undergraduate programs, receiving program-specific accolades in business, education, engineering, nursing, and career development — a testament to the university’s robust academic offerings and real-world readiness initiatives that lead to post-graduate success.

Since 2000, Colleges of Distinction has helped over 5 million students and families discover institutions that prioritize an authentic college experience. Their mission is to highlight universities that foster student engagement, personal growth, and lifelong success.
