For any questions or further clarification, please contact the Office of Student Financial Assistance at faoweb@tamucc.edu
Filling Out The FAFSA®
To apply for financial aid, you must complete and submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, also known the FAFSA®. You can complete the FAFSA® online at StudentAid.gov.
Any student, regardless of income, who wants to be considered for federal, state, and school financial aid programs. This includes grants, scholarships, work-study funds, and loans.
Filling Out The TASFA
The Texas Application for State Financial Aid (TASFA) is for students who are classified as Texas residents for tuition purposes but are not eligible to apply for federal student aid using the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). TASFA applicants are not U.S. citizens or eligible noncitizens for federal aid purposes, but they must be lawfully present in the United States. Examples may include students with Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA), Temporary Protected Status (TPS), or certain visa classifications.
Students who are not lawfully present in the United States are not eligible to be classified as Texas residents for tuition purposes and are not eligible for state financial aid. Residency is determined by the university, so please contact the Office of Admissions before completing the TASFA to confirm your eligibility.
To see if you qualify for the FAFSA, please visit www.studentaid.gov. Do not complete both the FAFSA and the TASFA.
