CODE BLUE: Cybersecurity Incident Affecting Canvas
Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi is aware of a cybersecurity incident affecting Instructure, the company that operates Canvas. This incident was not directed at TAMU-CC — Instructure serves thousands of institutions worldwide, and this is a vendor-level event that impacts thousands of institutions.
The Office of Information Technology (IT) is working closely with the Texas A&M System Information Security Office to actively monitor the situation and work directly with Instructure to restore service and assess any specific impacts to TAMU-CC systems or data.
- Watch for phishing emails, texts, and phone calls. We are already receiving reports of fraudulent messages claiming to be able to get you back into Canvas. Do NOT click links in unsolicited emails claiming to be from Canvas, Instructure, or TAMU-CC IT. Report anything suspicious to the TAMU-CC IT Service Desk at our online portal or by phone at 361.825.2692 or 866.353.2491.
- At this time, do not attempt to login to Canvas.
- Check for updates about the status of Canvas at the IT Service Desk online portal.

Students and faculty, we realize that the timing on this is exceptionally stressful as we are in finals. We are monitoring this situation closely, and as information becomes available, we will develop a plan that supports your success.
