Extreme Heat Warning/Heat Advisory
An extreme heat warning is in effect for Thursday, June 18, from noon to 8 p.m. Also, a heat advisory is in effect for Friday, June 19, from noon to 8 p.m.
Heat index values up to 110-113 are expected, with higher values of 119-122 expected at isolated locations. Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses. Please use caution if you must be outside: drink plenty of water, take breaks, and wear light-colored, loose clothing.
People may suffer from heat-related illnesses at any time of the year, but particularly during hot, humid conditions. Because the climate at TAMU-CC is conducive to these conditions, people must take preventive measures year-round to reduce their risk. Examples of heat-related illnesses include heat exhaustion, heat stroke, heat cramps, dehydration, and heat rash.
